8. Morne Fortune

Morne Fortune is one of the places to visit in Saint Lucia. It is a mountain with a height of 2,795 feet and it is also one of Saint Lucia’s most notable landmarks. The peak itself has many tourist attractions. While in the area, you can go to Fort Charlotte – this was a fortress built by the French and completed by the British when they colonized the island. There is only one “drive-in” volcano in the whole world and that is called Sulphur Springs or Sulfur Springs. All visitors who travel to Saint Lucia always asks about the 410,000-year-old springs which is composed of sulfur, iron, copper, lead, carbon, iron oxide and calcium oxide. This is a volcano spring which a muddy appearance. Some areas are open for mud baths, though.

An American writer who also happens to be a Pullitzer awardee named James A. Michener described Marigot Bay, in verbatim, “The most beautiful bay in the Caribbean.” Marigot Bay is located at the western area of the Caribbean and it is near the Saint Lucian National Marine Reserve. The bay has a panoramic beach view and is being enveloped by three hills that are steep and fully covered by green forests. It was even a site for a Hollywood movie back in 1967 for its impeccable scenery.

Pigeon Island is an islet in Saint Lucia which is about 44 acres or 178,000 square meters. The islet is recognized as a National Landmark being managed by the Saint Lucia National Trust. 2. Rodney Bay

Rodney Bay has become one of Saint Lucia’s tourist hub because of its prime location. It is in the northern part of the island and was named after George Brydges Rodney, a marine officer from Britain. The man is a legend in these parts due to his many battle victories. He set up a fort in Pigeon Island and defeated enemies with his tactics. This is why the bay was in his honor to commemorate his bravery and it is now a notable landmark in the small island.


1. Pitons

The most famous attraction in Saint Lucia is Pitons. It is a natural tourist destination since Pitons are volcanic plugs shaped into mountains. There are two Pitons namely the Gros Piton and the Petit Piton. The Gros Piton is 2,530 feet and the Petit Piton is a bit smaller at 2,438 feet. There is a ridge connecting the two volcanic plugs. UNESCO has recognized this as a World Heritage Site back in 2004 with criteria of vii and viii. It is one of the most amazing places to visit in Saint Lucia.
