15. Mada’in Saleh
One of the places to visit in Saudi Arabia is Mada’in Saleh. It is a World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO and it was inscribed as Al-Hijr Archaeological Site (Madain Salih) in 2008. The site has criteria of ii and iii. Actually, it is the first heritage site in the country and they used to call it Hegra.
Mada’in Saleh contain catacombs that are really well conserved and all in all, there are 111 tombs within the site. These tombs have been there as early as 2018 years ago. Ninety four of these burial sites are intricately adorned.
